We programmed, designed and executed this live animated motion capture performance in the concerthall of the danish broadcast association, DR Koncerthuset. The live concert was performed by a combination of the DR Bigband and the DR Symphony orchestra.
Behind The Scenes
⸺ Creative Brief
Producer Sophie Fimmer Engel wanted to merge avantgarde music, art, drawing & animation in a series of concerts in the DR Concert Hall. We got the task to make a live animated etruskan dancer controlled by ballerina Jessica Lyall.
⸺ Concept Development
The live animation was projected on to a 15×9 meters tall net across the stage with the dancer performing in the motion capture suit and the Orchestra behind her. This gave the effect of a huge hologram dancing live to the music.
It was programmed in Unreal Engine and the particles and VFX was controlled with a midi controller.
⸺ Equipment
The motion capture suit was a Rokoko Suit 2. And the hologram was projected onto a bobinette fabric.
